In other terms, Emotional Intelligence (EI), or otherwise known as Emotional Quotient (EQ), are learned skills that aid in one way or another your behaviour and/or feelings towards your job (or even personal) performance. Emotional Intelligence is a broad topic and can be scoped down to five general dimensions: self-awareness, self-management, internal motivation, empathy and social skills. These five dimensions are then categorized into two types: personal competence (includes self-awareness, self-management, and internal motivation) and social competence (includes empathy and social skills) (Daniel Goleman, 1998, p. 26-27). On one hand, Personal Competence is the internal aspect of EI in a person and this contains competencies that determine how one manages oneself. This would have been a consequence of not using critical thinking. I do not believe that my answer to this question this time around is much different than when I answered it in the earlier part of this course. Although my answer seems similar, my new knowledge on the subject is not. I came into this course not knowing much at all about the subject.
